New River Valley Medicine, PC is proud to now offer Urgent Care services to the general public — no appointment needed! Whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth, you do not need to be a regular patient of our practice to receive care. We’re here when life throws you those unexpected health curveballs.
Our Urgent Care is the perfect place for treating non-emergency medical concerns that can’t wait for a regular doctor’s appointment. If you or a loved one needs quick, compassionate care, we’re ready to help with:
- PCR Flu and Covid testing in under 30 minutes!
- Minor injuries like sprains, strains, or pulled muscles
- Cough, sore throat, or cold symptoms
- Ear infections and sinus problems
- Minor cuts, scrapes, or burns
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Rashes or allergic reactions
- Pink eye or other minor eye irritations
- Skin infections or boils
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Dehydration
- COPD or asthma flares or breathing concerns
We even offer confidential PCR testing for women’s sexually transmitted infections, with results available in under an hour. Testing can be billed to insurance, or for a reasonable cash fee of $200, which includes the appointment and testing. Get fast, personalized answers—because your health deserves timely care you can trust.
However, while our team can handle many urgent needs, some situations are too serious for urgent care and should be treated in an emergency room. These include:
- Chest pain or symptoms of a heart attack
- Signs of stroke (slurred speech, weakness on one side, sudden confusion)
- Severe abdominal pain
- Major trauma or head injuries
- Shortness of breath that’s worsening rapidly
- Suicidal thoughts or severe mental health crises
- High fevers in infants under 3 months
- Uncontrolled bleeding

Originally from northern Virginia, Dr Card attended medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. He served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed at Camp Lejeune and Great Lakes Naval Base in addition to one deployment. Dr. Card completed his Internal Medicine residency at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan before relocating to Southwest Virginia, the childhood hometown of his wife Dr. Lisa Gray.

Originally from Tazewell, Amanda has been a valuable member of our team since early 2020. Amanda began her nursing career as an LPN in 2006 and later an RN, then her Nurse Practitioners degree from Georgetown University in 2019. Her background in cardiology and Intensive Care make her a wonderful addition to our team. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and laughing, and is a talented photographer.

A graduate of Radford University, Raegan is a life-long Pulaski County resident. She began her career as a registered nurse, originally graduating in 2007. Raegan loves being a wife and mother, and she makes all of the staff's day much better with her infectious joy.
